What’s in a sound? The world is constantly having a conversation with us. Whether it be the rustling of the Fall leaves or the chatter of a Netflix video on your computer or mobile device. I got to thinking about the different ways that humans react to sound. I asked myself a question. What’s in a Sound? So many things. Where does one begin? When you hear a song from your childhood, it brings you to that place. The other day I heard the song, “Always Something There to Remind Me” by Naked Eyes.

Great song! It reminded me of the short time I lived in Georgia and my brother Frank bringing me to the Chattahoochee River. I heard this song and it immediately brought back vivid details of a particular day. I remember getting a cheeseburger at McDonalds that day. I often called Mickey D’s Y’Donalds. LOL! I also remember his gold Pontiac Fire bird. All because of the song. The melody resonated with me. It embedded itself into my memory. A permanent imprint in my mind. All in that super catchy melody and drum line. I also remember jamming this same song with a friend at one of our DPS Power Station Certified Recording Studios. Little events in time brought back by the power of music!

So, I ask you…The DPS Audio Enhancer user, the lover of music, film audio, odd sounds off the world and more…What’s in a Sound? What sound has brought you back to a place in time? Feels like time travel doesn’t it? I am not sure that any other thing brings you back like a melody or rhythm does. Share your personal story in a comment on this post.
