As a self proclaimed Audio Geek, I remember a time before iTunes and Spotify where I would actually plan the order in which I would manually play a collection of tunes on my CD deck (or through my turntable) for my friends that were hanging out. A real-time concierge service for being exposed to new music. A personal Pandora if you will. I had these huge box speakers. Vintage Pioneer CS-99s with the sweet criss-cross x grills I believe. I had thousands of CDs and hundreds of records. 10 inch, 7 inch vinyl, you name it. This may actually seem like a lot of work now huh? Sure I would make CD mixes (mix-tapes before that) for my friends but it was about the experience of sharing in real-time right there in person. Seeing the artwork, hand picking tunes and sharing. It was a way of communicating what I was feeling at the time. *Note: Will be interesting to see what the Daisy Music Service might provide by way of new music discovery.
Push forward 10 plus years. (That’s being generous)
Many people have lost this art of sharing and delivering music to their friends in person. Fidelity has decreased with low quality digital formats, etc. However, I have found that the Mac and PC Audio Geek of new, (myself included) is sort of rebuilding this personal sharing experience inside of their home. Most people have done away with the bulky speakers of old and replaced them with a small but pretty amazing sounding speaker dock with something like the iHOme iP1. (Shown Below) Or they just play music through their computer speakers.
I personally use the iHome iP1 (left) and our Bongiovi DPS Plugin on my PC to add a second layer of DPS goodness to my iHome iP1 when I have friends over. I generally stream my music library from my Google Music account or just play tunes stored on my PC. It gives me that control over the sound with less gear around. It’s nice to be able to use my TV for a monitor too. This way I can look at the lyrics, artwork, etc. A lot of us use our computers for our main source of media these days. I plug mine into the TV and process those tiny TV speakers as well.

I went to a friends house a month or so and heard Pandora streaming from a Mac. They started asking me about sound systems, etc. They mentioned that something big will not work. Naturally the DPS Plugin was my suggestion. Maybe a small dock like something from iHome or a sound-bar. All of which will highly benefit from using one of the DPS Plugin or Bongiovi DPS iOS products.

I’m right back to being the Audio Geek of old. The guy that always had something to share about the song and album experience. A few differences though. Smaller speakers, a more condensed way of managing my music. Not to mention, I am mentioning software to help the music experience. So my message is to all the Audio Geeks of the land. Get sharing music with your hipster friends again. Let the DPS Plugin Audio Enhancer guide the way!
