Record producer Tony Bongiovi and the team from Bongiovi Acoustics send their heartfelt condolences to the loved ones of Clarence Clemons. Clarence and Bongiovi were music business colleagues of around 30 years. Clemons was a frequent session player at Bongiovi’s Power Station studios in Manhattan where he recorded Born in the USA with the E-Street Band. Clemons and Bongiovi worked together on a number of studio sessions that Tony produced including his second cousin, Jon Bon Jovi. “His enormous talent as a saxophonist will live on through his music,” the producer said.

I remember recording Clarence at Avalon in 2001. Marcia Barrett of Boney M brought him in to play on one of her solo tunes. Wow! I think he had to duck his head to come through the door and when he played…well, everybody knows what that was like. I used a 421 on his horn and held on for dear life!
Truly sad, the big guy will be missed, it was so easy for many people to be captivated by his sax.
