Keymasterruslang:
We don’t make “Trial Versions”. There is a demo time limit of 48 hours for all version of DPS. Then you have to purchase an activation. You can use the same activation information from 1.2.3 in 2.0. Just put in your email and password into the Activation tab and click Activate. If there is trouble, you can de-activate 1.2.3 then activate 2.0.
As I’ve said before, DPS 2.0 will be a free upgrade for all current users.
jimboden and ruslang:
We are looking into this memory issue now. It seems the .NET framework is not freeing up memory properly. It’s odd that there is more memory being used with DPS off. We’ll get to the bottom of it.
1.2.3 is not .NET but uses a much older framework that we have to move away from. However, memory management is more manual so the footprint is smaller.
hoangngoc:
I am getting the same DPS Driver Not Found problem on my Windows 7 x86 computer. The message appears but the sound processing is working. This is going into the list of bugs to fix.
All:
Thanks for your patience in dealing with alpha testing. Remember, this is the development phase BEFORE beta so you can expect some problems. In return, I am happy to give free activations of the software to those who are contributing to this forum. Please email me privately about this.

Interesting you’re also getting the driver not found problem. I’ve never seen it, but I’m running Windows 8.1 64 bit. Don’t know if there’s something different between Win 7 and 8.1 that could account for it.

KeymasterI think something has changed with the latest Windows 7 updates that just went out. Things can get weird when the updates happen, especially to drivers. I have not had any problems with Windows 8.1 either.

Participant
DPS 2.0 starts off using somewhere in the 20MB range, then it starts chewing up memory every second until it uses over 200MB. When it reaches its maximum utilization, it drops back to the 20MB range
Yes that’s exactly what I wrote earlier, the high peak load on cpu & ram that the audio processing without it
I am getting the same DPS Driver Not Found problem on my Windows 7 x86 computer.
I have windows 7 SP1 X86 is that the same thing, although full removed all versions of DPS, rebooted the PC and it’s still DPS Driver Not Found
I am happy to give free activations of the software to those who are contributing to this forum
and I, too, can be free key activations

MemberWell, I spoke too soon about iTunes. Played some more music today on my headphones and had lots of audio drop outs. I’m going to run latency tests to see if it reports anything useful.

I love it :D, by the way, i still using DPS 2.0 ver, it’s working fine when i remove old version and reinstall testing version 😀
This software give me a new feeling with the song i hear 😀September 21, 2014 at 11:45 am #63886jimboden
MemberI ran a latency monitor for a while and it reported some problems. Did some digging around with Google and found posts about CPU Throttling causing latency problems. I was using the Windows 8.1 balanced power option, so I checked Processor Power Manager and found the minimum processor state was 5%. I changed the power option to High Performance and that solved the problem. No more audio drop outs.

KeymasterSorry for being scarce the last few days. I’ve been sick but I’m better now.
Jim: I will add that to the Help docs for folks who run into the choppy audio issues. This definitely seems to be related to certain sound cards (maybe PCI ones?) since I have this problem with my M-Audio Audiophile 2496 card.
Current Objectives
- Fix Stereo Enhancement frequency response issues.
- Fix memory usage issues – This seems to be related to the .NET garbage collector.
- Address DPS Driver Not Found issues – This is important to us right now because it impacts other projects we are working on. If you are getting this error, please follow these steps to help us resolve the problem:
- Install DPS 2.0.0a10.
- In the Dropbox folder with the DPS installer there is a folder called debug tools/debug dps driver.
- Choose 32 bit or 64 bit to match your operating system. EDIT: 32 bit has been removed because it causes a crash. We will fix this and suply a new 32 bit version to test.
- Copy and replace DPS 2.0.exe and DPSDriverLib.dll into Program Files/Bongiovi Acoustics/DPS 2.0
- Launch DPS 2.0.
- If you get DPS Driver Not Found, please tell us the error number that appears.
Thanks for your help, everyone!

MemberHi Joey:
I didn’t think about the sound card, so I guess that’s a possibility. My Sound Blaster Zx is in a PCI-X1 slot (the short type). For me, the issue seems specific to iTunes. I did not get audio drop outs playing games, watching videos, watching Netflix etc.. I play COD Ghosts online a lot and it has some pretty complex audio. Also, the Zx processes all audio onboard and does not take any CPU cycles. That was one of its big selling points when I bought it.

KeymasterAre you using Windows 7? 32 or 64 bit? We just found out the 32 bit files will cause the problem you have. Just re-install a10 to fix the issue for now.
I will let you know when we have good test files for 32 bit…

ParticipantI’m using windows 8.1 32bit and i’ve reinstall a10 but its still didn’t appear 🙁

Member@xaqmusic thanks for taking me in the Alpha testing 🙂
My system: Windows 8.1 64Bit
Been running for an hour now few observations i noted (Most have been reported i think)
1) High RAM if no media playback ( once it even reached 500MB then went down to normal level)
2) Consistent CPU usage when we bring the GUI to the front around 3-4%(while not playing any media) 7-8% (while playing media) and it doesn’t lower but when i click settings tab the CPU usage drops. if the Home tab is taken the CPU usage is back again
FYI.. I haven’t faced the driver issue yet
September 25, 2014 at 1:39 pm #63879riyaz
MemberMade an interesting observation
i closed the GUI to tray menu then i right clicked and quit DPS 2.0 then opened again without bringing the GUI to the front i played a media file to my surprise CPU usage .8% RAM 22.9MB. i then stopped the Media playback and CPU usage 0% and RAM is consistent at 22.9 MB. But once i bring the GUI to the front then its back to high cpu and RAM usage as before. i think the issue has something to do with the GUI

Memberriyaz:
Just tried your test on my Win 8.1 64 system. When DPS GUI is on the desktop and not playing media on the Home screen, CPU usage is in the 1.5% to 2.4% range. It appears to fluctuate when the memory usage changes. When on the Settings screen, CPU usage is in the 0% to .3% range.
When DPS is processing media, on the Home screen, CPU usage is in the 2.4% to 3.5% range. On the Settings screen, CPU usage is in the .9% to 2.1% range.
When the GUI is not on the desktop, and playing media, CPU usage is in the .8% to 2.4% range. When no media is playing, CPU usage is in the 0% to 1.5% range.
My CPU usage readings are lower than yours, but we probably have different processors. Mine is an i7-4770K.
UPDATE: Just saw your second post and did the same test. DPS CPU usage is in the 0% to 1% range and RAM is locked at 17.9MB with no fluctuation at all.
When I stopped playing media, CPU usage is in the 0% to .5% range. RAM dropped to 17.8MB.
When I opened the GUI to the desktop, the CPU and RAM utilization spiked back up as noted previously.
ANOTHER UPDATE: I closed the GUI and noticed RAM usage climbed to 960MB, then dropped down to 30MB, then repeated the same pattern again. I opened the GUI on the desktop again, and the memory usage dropped back to the lower ranges reported earlier. Closed the GUI again and the high memory usage repeated itself. Terminating and restarting DPS without opening the GUI went back to a steady 17.9MB RAM usage.
