ParticipantI just installed version 2.0.0a8. It tells me the trial has expired. I can change settings but can’t listen to the enhancement. I tried to uninstall and reinstall and I get the same error.
I also wanted to get clarification on the bass and treble equalizer. I see the tooltip that shows the frequency and boost or cut. The question I have is does the frequency stay where you left it when moving to a different frequency? In other word, can I adjust all individual frequencies or is the only one that is changed the one where the dot is?

Membermadeau6299:
I had the same problem with the expiry message. Just exit DPS and start it again and it will be OK. I only got the message the first time I ran it. Uninstalling and reinstalling it doesn’t work because you’re back at square one.
Can’t help with the equalizer, though. I’m sure Joey will be checking in soon and will be able to help you.

ParticipantI just tried that and after about 5 min the message comes back.

Keymasterrnadeau6299,
Did you activate the software using your normal email and password in the Activation tab? I checked your account and you do have activations available. As Jim reported, there is some issue with having 1.2.3 activated along with 2.0 but so far we have had success with activating 2.0 in all of our tests.
The normal behavior of the trial is 48 hours then 10 minutes after every launch. When activated this limitation is removed.
Regarding the eq pad:
Each square is a parametric equalizer like we use in the studio. Unlike a graphic eq where the frequency is fixed for many sliders (bands), a parametric eq gives you fewer bands (2 in this case) with the ability to change the frequency in each band.
So each of our eq pads can only affect one frequency at a time. For example, you can set the bass frequency by moving the dot left to 100Hz. Then boost 100Hz by moving the dot up from that horizontal position. But it can be simpler than that…
The way we use a eq in the studio is NOT by thinking about numbers. We grab the knob and turn and listen. This eq pad is meant to work this way. Just grab the dot, move it around and listen to the effect on the sound. For some songs the effect will be small. With other songs the effect will be large. This depends on the frequency content of the media you are listening to. These two eq pads are extremely powerful for customizing your sound. Much more so than normal bass and treble.
Please let me know if you want any more clarification on the eq pads. Eq is certainly an art and we want so share it!

MemberI was going to mention activation too. I’ve been switching back and forth between 1.2.3/2.0 reactivating each time, and haven’t seen the expiry message.

KeymasterGood. I can see this on your account’s log on our server. However, there can certainly be issues with activation especially when dealing with proxy servers and fire walls.
If anyone sees anything weird in the activation area please let us know!

ParticipantThanks, I hadn’t activated it. Now it is working. Thanks for the explanation on the eq adjustments.

KeymasterIt’s Friday so…
There is a new build!
Not a ton of visible changes in this one because we are working on a lot of really important stuff behind the scenes.
Version 2.0.0a9
- Fixed drawing of tabs and radio buttons when switching skins.
- Save/restore the background color setting between app runs.
- Save/restore the state of the main window and selected tab between app runs.
Please install right over top of the last version. The activation should still be valid. Please let us know how this works for you.

MemberHi Joey:
OK, got it. I noticed something called Goodies as well. Is it something we should download?
Edit:
Just installed the new version and I get the error message DPS 2.0 has stopped working. I tried it a couple of times, but no dice. I’ll try a reboot to see if it helps.
August 30, 2014 at 2:38 pm #63943jimboden
MemberDid a reboot, but it didn’t help. Reinstalled version a8 over top of a9 and it works fine.

KeymasterYour post about the error didn’t make it in. But can I guess it is an exception thrown because “this control cannot have a transparent background”?
This looks like a bug in skinning and background color registry update. If you just click “continue” on the error the app will work fine.
I’ve updated the Xparent skin to Xparent2 (in Goodies folder) if you want to try it. The blank background is in there if you want to use it.

MemberHi Joey:
There are no error messages other than Windows saying it has stopped working. There is no option to continue, just a close the application box.

KeymasterThere are certainly issues with A9. I have restored A8 to the dropbox in case you need it. I recommend new testers try A8 first.
ruslang: When you click “Continue” for the .NET error did the application function? Also, what is your sound card on the Win 7 machine?
Did you get the DPS audio driver to install? Does version 1.2.3 work on this machine?
Thanks for your patience on this last build. The back-end stuff we are working on is pretty complex so it may seem like we are taking a few steps back as far as bugs go. But the result will be completely a consolidated audio processing engine across Mac, Windows, iOS, Linux and Android from a single code repository.

MemberHi Joey:
That’s all part of the fun! This is off topic because it’s a Windows thread, but I have a question about the upcoming iOS version. Quite a while back, Bongiovi introduced iOS DPS version 1.5. It has issues, such as album graphics disappearing all the time plus, for whatever reason, the repeat and shuffle functions are in words rather than the traditional symbols that are common across all platforms. At the time, I questioned why this was done in another thread, but never got an answer. Will this be changed in the consolidated processing engine?
