Hey guys – I opened a ticket on this just now, but I figured I’d post here as well. I got the dreaded “Driver not found” error. So I followed the instructions for the fix, and it’s still not working. This is the first time I’ve ever had any issues with the program so I wanted to see if anyone else has had this same problem..

hi,

is it possible to get profiles for specific speaker systems?

the profiles in general seem to be aimed at smaller pc type devices.

i have tannoy little red monitors and a 100w per channel amp so ideally there would be profiles that if not for these specifically would at least cater for more grown up speakers/amps.

i using the profile for little bose soundlink mini as it sort of works.. sorta!

Thanks for submitting your profiles request. To be completely honest with you, the Tannoy Little Red Monitor speakers seem like they will be pretty hard to get a hold of. We create every profile by hand/ear which means we must have that particular piece of hardware on our bench to tune. We create a custom profiles for devices as they are made available to us and it doesn’t seem very likely that we’ll be able to get these into our studio.

That said, I do hear what you are saying and I will pass your feedback along to my audio engineers and see if they can create a profile for bigger or more robust speakers.

Have you tried the various City and other device profiles? We noticed there is a lot of overlap in the profile settings for many devices. Odds are the perfect profile is right there waiting for you to select it. You know you have the right profile when your favorite songs “light up”. Just trust your ears and how you feel when you listen to your media.

I used to use the Tannoy concentric speakers in my music production lab back in the day. I remember they had an interesting signature that was not pretty but was good for digging detail out of a mix.

You mentioned the Soundlink Mini profile was sort of close. What would make it sound better? If you are able to get close with the bass and treble controls (let me know those settings) and give me a bit of artistic feedback (describe in colors, shapes, flavors whatever) I bet I can make a profile that works with your speakers.

the big issue is that they are obviously very bass friendly so there is always a slight issue balancing up this, i have found that nearly all profiles are very muddy in the mid area vocals disappear and slightly light at the top..

i now using the munny profile which makes me laugh as i can’t think of anything different..

as my interface out of my mac so i know there is no issue at this end of things, the miyo is an animal of output device!

can we agree a suitable test track? i normally use cream by prince as you seem to be able to turn volume way past 11 into trouser flapping and it stays clean.. ok?

could there be a tweakable profile at any point?

I guess the muddiness of the mids and the disappearance of vocals is caused by compression with the Bongiovi AGC (I hear these effects, too).

There was (is?) a profile creator but only commercially available to companies as far as I know.

Personally I sometimes applied small changes by hand to the profiles in the past. However previously profiles were just saved in a folder and now in a database, so it’s no longer possible. 🙁

the agc seems to be the main agent of confusion.. its annoying as much of the content sounds great with dps switched in, but there is always a level of mud in the middle that makes long periods of listening difficult.. i’m pretty sure audio being audio and totally subjective the only way is to be able to tweak the profile to taste..

i’d be very happy to purchase a sensibly priced profile editor..

xaqmusic, will you be able to have a go at creating a profile that might fit better?

as a workaround you can use the DPS bass and treble controls to fine-tune the sound and lower the the volume of your media player (*not* DPS/windows/soundcard volume) to make the Bongiovi AGC work less. This should get rid of the muddiness but you’ll also lose some of the DPS leveling effect.

Hi i have a question about realtek drivers i must update them every week? on your site write make sure you have the lastet drivers i must grab them from my Motherboard web or realtek?

Only unofficial (beta) drivers are released weekly or even more often.

Official drivers are only updated a few times per year on the realtek website. They provide basic support for your soundcard and should work just fine.

Your motherboard manufacturer is probably releasing audio drivers a bit more often and they usually add some additional stuff like more sound effects. It’s your decision if you want or need them.
Note however that using other sound effects along with DPS may result in a degradation or distortion of sound. So you should make sure to use only one at any given time.

Btw microsoft is also releasing realtek drivers from time to time.

Still most driver updates just support new soundcards or fix small bugs for specific models and so may have no advantage over older ones for you. If one works fine staying with it will probably not cause any problems.
